The Grounding Cord

Document Actions

We have a tendency to take in others' feelings (which are magnetic) and thoughts (which are electrically charged), which then run rampant through our systems. Grounding is an action that helps dissipate noisy thoughts, anxiety, and undesirable feelings (that often aren't even ours!) and return us to our natural, centered, relaxed state.

To get and feel more grounded:

Allow yourself to relax, close your eyes, and be in the center of your head. From this place, imagine a beam of light extending from the tip of your spine at first chakra to the center of the earth.

Ask it to secure itself to the center of the planet and to widen to the width of your body.

Now envision a magnetic coil surrounding this column of light.

Women: Draw a line from each ovary to this column of light

Everyone: Draw a line from sciatic nerve area in your low back to this column of light. Ask that this column of light be "in present time."

Give your "grounding cord" (the column of light with the magnetic coil)  the command to activate! Then take a breath and notice the relaxation.

The command to "activate and become magnetic" releases energies that subconsciously affect you and do not serve you, including negative feelings or thoughts. These thoughts and feelings flow through the unprotected energy field, stimulating unwanted feelings, creating reactions and discomfort. Interestingly, the majority of thoughts and feelings that affect us during the day don't even belong to us but come from the world around us. Once in our space, they create a distraction, distort our attention, create reactions, and direct our lives. Grounding minimizes this outside influence.

You can further this practice by consciously choosing to release unwanted thoughts and feelings any time you notice them.

Recommend doing this in the morning each day.
