pH Balance
The cells of our bodies use homeostasis to keep us in balance. We can
aid our bodies in restoring and maintaining this balance by
monitoring our pH levels (with a simple litmus paper test in the
morning). On a daily basis, we can further our health and balance
by replenishing our intestinal flora and adjusting our diet to include
more alkaline vs. acidic foods.
When our cells become imbalanced, symptoms of disease may occur. Many seemingly unrelated diseases, pain, and discomfort are caused from acidity in our cells. On a daily basis, a good way to stay more in balance is to begin your day with a high quality (cold to preserve the bacteria) dose of a multidophilus (acidophilus, bifidum, dulgaricus, etc.), followed by an alkaline food (e.g. fresh lemon juice squeezed in water). During the day, concentrate on ingesting more alkaline than acidic foods, especially for breakfast, snacks, and dinner. We have two goals: to replenish or maintain healthy intestinal flora (to promote bowel health) and to include more alkaline foods in our diet. Hard-cooked eggs, dairy, meats, nuts, pastas and other refined grain products can be digested better when eaten at lunchtime. Vegetables, when steamed or lightly cooked, are especially good for you. Below is a list of alkaline foods. You will note that most fruits and vegetables are on this list, including ones we tend to think of as being acidic (lemons, oranges, etc.). These are included because they become an alkaline ash when processed in the body. Alkaline Foods
